I am sorry to say...I never got to know Leslie. Because of our "Gatherings" over the last few years and reunions...I have been blessed to come to know many of my classmates that I did not know,or hang around with in High School. If I new then what I know now...I would have embraced the chance to seek you out ,and get to know you.

The passing of Leslie is just another reason for all of us to celebrate life by getting together as often as possible. (you have heard me say this more than once). On my last post I was stirring the pot for our 6th Annual Gathering of "Geriatric Silliness" in October....so it's gonna happen! Dates could be October 10th,11th,12th F/S/S. October is a weird month in Ohio, and more than once we have seen snow on Halloween...so any later in the month folks might have to contend with some crappy weather to drive in.

I agree Al, We could get this up on the website any time now to give folks pleanty of time to plan for it. Can you make that happen or does that have to go to Gilbs?  To those of you who missed the 50th,I would really encourage you to show up for Octobers bash. Sally Little, this is a personal invitation from me to BE THERE! NO EXCUSES !  Also,Barb Peate,If we have to FEDEX you in...we will do it!   Nancy Westerfield,John Dawson and you Al could help organize on that end. In the past, the Beachcliff Tavern has worked out well ...however, your input on that place or other places would be welcome. One more time. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL

My heart breaks for Lesley's family and friends and especially you, Helen.  Prayers are with all of you getting through this the toughest time.  I didn't know Lesley well, but what I do know is she was cute, friendly, and had a great big smile.  Bless you, Lesley.

Calling all classmates!  A June mini is brewing!  Holly Daugherty Fash and her family will be in the Cleveland area in June.  Holly very much wants to visit Bearden's with her family while they are in town.  We don't have a date yet but are working on it and will have one soon.  Holly was disappointed to not be able to make the 50th due to previous committments and hopes that many of you can make this mini.  Stay tuned for updates as they develop!

Don't tell Al Gore but this winter was one of "the coldest winters on record".  I'm glad that you Northerners all survived but I am grateful to live in Texas now.

We actually had an unusal ice storm down here and our car's windshield had a quater inch of ice on it.  I got out my old Sohio ice scaper and started cleaning the ice off.  All my neighbors came over and wanted to know what it was.  I said, "it's a scaper."  They all went, "OO AHH".  These Texans sure are funny.   They don't know how to drive on ice or snow either so they all stayed home and I had all the roads to myself.

The White House recently came out with a great metaphor for Obamacare.  They said that it was just like a car stuck in first gear and it would take a few years to get it going.  Now I agree with that!!  After I fired the mechanic who told me that it takes years to fix the transmission, I would then junk the Obamamobile and buy a new Lexus.  The White House should follow their owm metaphorical advice.

Just got back from visiting my son and family in Southlake, Texas.  It was a whirlwind at best.  They are all so busy and kids in activities.  Got my hugs from Kylee, 7, and Reese, 3.  She's a spitfire for sure!!  If I call her Miss Priss, she would say, "my name is Reesey."  Too funny.  She talks like a little adult.  We went to Great Wolf Lodge for a night....what a racket that is.  Unbelievable that someone came up w/the concept and so many things for kids to do in one place.  It's a money pit for sure.  We had a blast and lots of family time!

I don't care about Putin and the Commies taking over Old Europe.  Afterall we have more serious problems back here at home.  Like whether Chief Wahoo and the Cleveland Indians are ethnically insensitive and even racist!  And what about the Rocky River Pirates?  Pirates were mean, stole stuff and killed people.  Here are some of my suggestions for some poltically corect mascot names for our old Alma Mater.

Suburban Knights

Greedy Whiteys

Grass Cutters

Silver Spooners

One Percenters

Out-of-Tuners

Oh I am sooo sorry about Leslie.  She was so sweet & soft-spoken, & had the rosiest cheeks that I envied.  And Helen, I have lost a good friend, so I know how that feels.  We were in our 30's.  Devastating.  Prayers for her family, which will have a hard time for months to come; maybe years.

Please pray for Barbie.  She is having intestinal surgery this Fri. to fix a problem that has plagued her for yrs. Found a specialist at the Cleve. Clinic in Weston, FL, happening to be near where our older sister lives. So I remain here in Estero, as I have had food poisoning since Sat. nite or else the flu.  Not sure which. Violently ill tho (projectile vomiting--poor Fred). Chose not to risk it w/Barb going into surgery.  So we are praying this will help her & she can get on w/life.  This doc is supposed to be a pioneer in the field & also hails from Ohio State I think.  She is comfortable w/all of the staff & him.  Confidence is half the battle.

Leaving May 1 to come home. Fred leaves this Sat. before Easter.  Home sweet home! But it was so nice down here, especially since Barb lives 5 min. away!

Well, Lin, you and Barbie just have some of the not so great luck.  Keeping you both in meditations for wellness!!!

Meanwhile classmates....watch for the official announcement of a June mini coming soon.  It will be the first one since the 50th and hopefully the long N. Ohio winter snows will actually be gone by then!  It's going to be a fun time full of friends, food and fins!  So keep your schedule open!

I will tell her what you said, Fred!  I am feeling somewhat better so may go to Weston Sat.  Fred leaves for home w/the dog anyway!  I think I am more nervous than she is!!  Fred: Are you planning to come to one of our mini reunions?  Barb I believe is not coming home to Col. until Aug. or Sept.   You're the one everyone wanted to see who gets on this sight, & we STILL haven't seen you!

If anyone wants to send Barb a card, just send it to me at 20241 Burnside Place, #504, Estero, FL 33928 & I will get it to her.  Thanks for thoughts, prayers & concern for her.  Wish I could stop the jumpiness in my own stomach. There's something about twins that makes you uber concerned about each other!

Hey!  Check out the home page!!  The time is coming for the next gathering of the class.  June 16 at Bearden's.  Friends, food and fins!  Holly Daugherty Fash and family will be there along with many of your classmates.  The train will be running and the fins will be flashing in the parking lot.  Don't miss the first mini since the 50th and the chance to see Holly and her family.  Ah, those lazy, hazy dayz of summer!

Thanks to all those from whom I got cards and well wishes from surgery.  Ellen, thank you for planting a tree in my name...that is the most special, thoughtful thing for you to do.  Unfortunately, it is not over as I will undergo another surgery next Friday.  The first has been a two-week trial with wires in my back and a monitor at my waist to monitor the intestinal tract...not exactly comfortable.   Can't wait for a good night's sleep again!  Next Friday will put in a permanent implant which, hopefully, will take care of the problem.  Of any of my surgeries, this has been the worst but the technology today is incredible.  Thank you, Lord, for that.  Am staying w/Lin until she leaves on Thursday and then back to Weston to stay at Judy's house for recovery again.  Thank you, again, for the well wishes and prayers!

Barb

I have been reading my classic "Fun with Dick and Jane" books again.  I have all twelve volumes on my shelf.  "See Spot run.  Run, run, run."  That's some good literature.  I guess kids now don't read Dick and Jane anymore or use flash cards for learning arithmetic. These "young skulls full of mush" don't use phonics either.  We called phonics, "sounding it out."  So not only do these dummies not know how to read, write and do arithmetic but they probably can't find Florida or Canada on a map either.  We looked at that map of the United States every day at Kensington Elementary School.  Students now don't know how to walk home from school on their own, face a bully or a rain storm or audit savings acounts on "bank day" either. I feel sorry for these young numbskulls.
