Hey Fred...Happy TEXAS -size Birthday!

Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion.

That is, if you are not stuck on a ship out in the

middle of the ocean somewhere!

Thanks Holly and Linda and everyone for the birthday wishes.  68 years old is a fun age.  I would enjoy living with you all in a Yellow Submarine.

My awesome grandson, Braydon, is graduating mid-May (on his sister's birthday actually).  His senior prom was last weekend.  Check out the photos on my profile page (top of the photo section).  We love him but apparently everyone else does also; )  Oh, yeah, he's also National Honor Society and has major scholarships.

Congratulations Ellen.  I'm sure that all of us with grandkids are proud and see our redemption and immortality everytime we see their bright shining faces.

Thanks, Al and Fred!  I only have 2 and they are both exceptional young adults.  I think their nursing home work has taught them things most of us don't learn that early in life.  I'm proud of them both but mostly for them....for what they have done, are doing and will do as great human beings and taking care of themselves.  It's been nice to get to know Nancy's grands through her postings.  I think they are on similar paths to Tay and Braydon.  It would be nice to read more grandparent brags here, too!

OK,

We bought our airplane tickets for the reunion today. For those of you who have access to Southwest Airlines, they are running a sale. Our round trip tickets from Phoenix to Cleveland for two were only $551.20 total. Ariving on Tuesday, September10th @ 4:00 pm and returning on Friday, September 20th. That is a smokin deal. When I fly back by myself it's usually around $380.00 round trip for one So check it out!.

For those of you who remember elementary school, which of these tasted best?

Elmer's glue

White paste

Crayola crayons

Number 2 pencils

I vote for that delicious paste.

Which is healthier?

Breathing chalk dust from using blackboards or breathing the fumes from markers used on whiteboards?

I'll take the chalk dust.

For all you train lovers out there!  NKP 765 @ RR:

Linda Peate (Powrie)

Congrats to all the grandparents. That's what Fred & I miss so much is never having any.  But life isn't always fair, is it?

Fred, I liked to eat the paste until I found out it contained horse stuff, so I immediately decided that was a bad thing. Then, Barb & I loved to stick our heads out of the car when my Dad was filling the gas tank. Loved that smell!  Such a harmless inhalation back then.  God only knows how many things they inhale now!  We may all be able to get marijuana for our old age legally if they keep things up state by state!!  If our bones hurt.....well, we'll just smoke, right????  By then our brains will be fried so we don't have to worry about it destroying brain cells!

Are we having a mini reunion in June or July Nance?  If not, that's fine. It'll be Sept before we know it!

Nancy Westerfield (Depew)

Is everyone forgetting about the mercury coated coins we used to put between our teeth and lips for a REALLY shiney grin ????

If anyone did that now...The shear volume and intensity of the screeching adults is hard to imagine.

Hi, Guys...Thanks for that great train video, Ellen.  We had a few hundred people at The Rock Pile for the big event on Mother's Day.  Love that steam whistle  !!   Such a great reminder of chidhood sounds.

Brian

Thanks, Butch and Ken and the many more who are not with us now.  We will never forget you!

Linda Peate (Powrie)

Well, Nance, I communicated w/Larry to see how things were going & he indicated we were not having a mini reunion before Sept.  So, I guess that's that!  It will be Sept. before you know it.  Trying to get Sally Willey Johnson to come as she may not now.  I hope I can talk her into it.  We had so much fun when she came to a mini reunion.  Like the old days!!!

06/03/13 08:51 AM #1660

Nancy Westerfield (Depew)

06/04/13 09:13 AM #1662

Brian McKeown

Don't ya think you're a little long in the tooth te be hangin' drywall there, fella???

Ya don't wanna miss the reunion 'cause you worked yourself to death.  108 degrees??

Ya, I know...it's "dry heat."

It's still heat...and you're still old...just like the rest of us.

Nancy Westerfield (Depew)

06/05/13 04:50 PM #1664

Linda Peate (Powrie)

Nance:  Whatever anyone wants I will come if it happens.  Bruce: Are you crazy?  Hanging drywall in 108 deg.?  Is this a new job or at your house?!!!  I love Ariz. but that's why we decided we would never move there.  Went to a wedding one summer & it was 118 deg. !  Everyone had to stand outside while they took pics after the ceremony.  We all left due to the heat!!!

Loving the weather here.  It's 80 w/a breeze & sunny.  Favorite weather.

06/05/13 07:33 PM #1665

Barbara Peate (Sabo)

OK.  If enough people would like to get together in maybe mid- or end of July, who would say no if we can?  It's everyone's choice to do so.  They are so much fun and there can never be enough of them!  See what happens?????  Set a date and whomever goes, goes!
