Nancy -

Thanks for all your effort arranging this mini-reunion.   What a great time!   Great seeing all that could make it and catching up with them as to what's been happening in their lives.   Those that attended - great seeing you and thanks for the memories.  Those that did not attend - you missed a really good time.

Every New Year is a happy new year considering the alternative.  I sensed that someone on the message board mentioned the Peate twins and even though I can't explain it, I always could tell them apart.  It was my main hobby in high school.  One of my regrets is that I didn't seranade them with my favorite song:

Hey, little Miss Riding Hoods,

You two are looking good!

Lin and Barb have all this big bad wolf could want.

WWHHOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAA!!!!!

Bill,

Did the Mayans predict the end of the world later this year or did they just run out of calendars.  Should we listen to a people who never invented the wheel, believed in human sacrifice and didn't adapt to climate change?  I for one only care if the Mayans were right that it doesn't affect my stocls.

Does anyone know what year the indoor pool at the school was built?  Just a curiousity.  No info anywhere online

Thanks.

I'm thinking the early 70's. Somewhere 72 or 73. I worked there part time in the evenings as a lifeguard and I stopped that in '74.

Ask Pat Gillespie, he was there then.

John,

Too bad we never had a chance to swim in that pool while we were in high school.  But years later I was able to watch my son, William compete there for his North Ridgeville high school team.  His future wife, Laura was able to see him swim there too.  That is a sort of vicarious redemption, I guess.

Many see the sinking of the cruise ship, Costa Concordia as a metaphor for the Obama Adminstration.  Here is a report from one of the survivors:

We were dinning on the Lido deck when we heard a loud crunching sound and felt the ship grinding to a halt.  We then heard someone over the intercom screaming, 'I SAID STEER LEFT THEN RIGHT THEN LEFT NOT RIGHT THEN LEFT THEN RIGHT'  I said, who's that?  Someone offered, "That sounds like the Navigator, Joe Biden".

The lights went out, the ship listed to starboard and people started running around in a panic.  Then almost immediately someone said, "who's that idiot on the beach?"  Someone with binoculors exclaimed, "why that's Captain Obama waving his arms and shouting something".

'THE CRASH WAS ALL FORMER CAPTAIN BUSH'S AND THE REPUBLICAN'S FAULT NOW ABANDON SHIP LIKE I DID', shouted Captain Obama.

Later on the Promonade deck a group who were wearing lifejackets and bundled up in blankets and with water pouring into their Michael Jordon shoes were trying to convince all the panicing passengers that this was a great cruise ship and the Captain and Navigator were great too.  Besides they said that the casino managers, Timmy and Bernie had told us that all the casino chips were as good as gold.  Suddenly the ship listed almost completely over to starboard and we all heard the gushing sound of 3465 toilets emptying their contents simultaneously.  The group of apologists said that it didn't get any better than this.

I guess you and I were too busy eating Charlie's Chips and cherries  and talking about BOYS!!!

Any guys' ears burning?

Within the cruise ship, Costa Concordia disaster lies some potential opportunities such as monetary compensation, future free cruises and the possibility of an excitingf ship to shore swim.  So, since we are headed out on another cruise on February 5th, when we are sitting at the Captain's table, I may ask the Captain to sail a little closer to some of the islands so we can get a better view.

Holly--I do remember one Christmas when Lin & I went to Florida.  You & Sally Willey stole our boyfriends.  Dumbest thing ever--Lin & I gave Xmas gifts to them before we left.  Never got one back from either of them.  Believe it was Barry Nichols & John Mylius.  I could I ever??????

Doc could usually be seen squating at the tail end of the parade, yammering about the "glory days" of the 1960's and claiming to have been a hippie war protestor even though he had never marched against the Vietnam War, spit on a returning veteran or even smoked a joint because that would have possibly jeopordized his student deferment.  Doc had actually spent the entire war years hiding in the Ivory Tower and eventually receiving a PhD in Trans Gender Studies.  He always wore a tee shirt to ralies with "DOC" printed on both sides of the shirt because of his glowing pride in his academic accomplishments.

"I was at Woodstock, I did LSD, I had sex with Mick Jagger", Doc would blurt out.  "Very profound Doc", someone offered and the crowd roared.  "Lying fool",  "cowardly wimp", and "pointy headed liberal", were some of the other comments from the crowd.

Bruce and esteemed Forum members:  the family photo contest voting will begin early in February after we get (hopefully) some more submissions.  I'll put something up on the home page to clarify that....

John--wondering how you are feeling.  Bruce, how is your wife doing now?  Time for another mini-reunion.  Going to visit Lin in Florida around 2/19 then to my son's in Dallas for Easter.  Holly--do you live far from Southlake where he lives?

John,

Yes, a lot of organized sports came along after we graduated including swimming, hockey and soccer.  The classes that followed us were able to enjoy those facilities but we will always remember our own games like mud football, baseball in the street, and hockey in the park.  We organized them ourselves without parents, coaches or referees and we played just for fun and imaginary glory.

Kids now play organized sports like soccer, baseball and football from the age of three  years old.  They face screaming coaches and parents from an early age.  Will they ever know the joy of real children's games?  I think not and I don't envy them, I actually feel sorry for them.
