We had so many laughs at Herb's. Who knew John Dawson was that funny??? I LOVED his story about the "endowed" football player in the locker room after a game. All of us laughed so hard we were crying. And thanks Mr. Dawson for the flowers. I should have left mine for you,, Nancy, and rudely picked them up and took them. Felt bad later! But John, how could you know 4 women would show up instead of the 3 you thought? You are such a sweetheart!
Alan, you have always made me laugh. Your sense of humor just cracks me up. (John's too) It's too bad we didn't hang around as groups in high school like that. Everyone was jockying for popular position within the caste systsem set up at RRHC, of which made me crazy then and now! So many good people were shunned by tje "popular" kids as they were called. Today, everyone is on the same level. Too bad high school can't be that way and more people would have enjoyed the experience! But today, I just so enjoy meeting up with you all I haven't seen in many, many years. Cliff, I was so glad you came because I cannot remember the last time I saw you. Wish I had known you better in high school. Barb & I will be at the Winking Lizard, so hope more can show up Sept. 11. So Bruce, we'll be there & get to touch base again, since we haven't seen you either in such a long time.
What is so funny is that instead of talking about whose doing what, we're talking about surgeries, Medicare cards and Social Security. Retirement for some is a topic, but I'm only partially retired. As I've said, Fred choosing to work himself to death because he LOVES it--has always loved a challenge. Me, I am kind of ready to stay home more, spend time w/friends going to lunch, getting involved in church again, etc.
Anybody who can, PLEASE come on Sept. 11. Laughing is just sooooo good for the soul. We talked about such fun, mundane things which is so great! Hope to see as many as possible. And unfortunately, I will be coming alone to our reunion. My husband just isn't that enthused about coming, so I let him out of the thing!! He was grateful for sure. (My husband has no reunion at Lakewood because he fooled around, ripped school & never graduated w/his class. Ahhhh, that's what I LOVED! He was the bad boy. But, who would think he'd end up 4 yrs. in the Air Force, get thru college in 2-1/2 yrs, rise to the top of a pharm. co., then build his own business when he was "downsized"? (One of the worst time of our lives to be 51 w/no job after dedicating your life to a corp. for 27 yrs!) My dad never thought he'd amount to anything! That only made me dig my heels in deeper, which made him very unhappy. But I loved that bad boy!! Still do after 43 yrs. My dad ended up liking him a lot. Guess guys have to prove themselves to the dad, right?
Did I just digress? I think I'm getting like Fred Thomas and his storytelling. I just don't use those big words!!!
