I was wondering why my ears were itching.  Somebody mentioned my name.  Yes indeed Ellen, I will be jealous of you and Randy camping out in a hot tent at Mill Valley.  I will be suffering on a seven day cruise out of Galvaston to Montego Bay, The Caymans and Cozumel from August 15th to the 22nd.  Got an oil spill deal.  I'll try not to overstuff on lobster and filet mignon and I'll be thinking of you and Randy while I'm laying under a palm tree on a white sand beach and listening to the surf and feeling a cool tropical breeze while you,  Randy and Chris are sweating in Randy's old Army tent.

Hi Ellen

You can take it for a test drive.

Fred

I hope you don't get sick from the under cooked food on the ship. I hate being sick on board ship, (but you being the master sailor) problems like that doesn't bother you.

Randy,

You should take some of those c-rations with you when you go camping.  The ones you brought back from the Vietnam war.  Take Dawson with you too because that would be gourmet food for him compared with the stuff he usually eats.

Hey Everyone!  Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes. That was so nice and came at a great time.  Mother died on July 12, the day after our birthday.  It was hard, but you know she was to be 99 on Aug. 6.  How long can you expect people live?  Her body had just given out completely.  She was almost totally blind w/macular degeneration, had a massive stroke and had trouble walking because her right side had been paralyzed, and she was almost totally deaf.  Our bodies aren't meant, for the most part, to live that long.  She said many times she just wanted to die & be with Daddy.  Now she can be.  They always danced when we were young, and at her memorial we played "Dance w/My Father Again" because she said to me once after he died "I wish I could dance w/your father just one more time".  So I am sure they are dancing up there and our daughter, Tahnee, is watching and smiling.  She loved her grandparents.  Wish so much Barb & I could go on Aug. 5, but she has to work and so do I.  Maybe we should try for meeting sometime on a Sat. for lunch!  We would love to see everyone.

Ellen:  Thank you for the kind words.  Fred: You are a pip! And to everyone who sent their condolences, thank you.  We appreciated it so much.  It's hard to let go of that last part of your older generation.  Hard to walk out that door and leave her.  And now my sister, Judy, realizes that SHE'S the matriarch.  Oh boy, we're in trouble!!

I love being able to communicate with everyone.    Linda

Animal Farm

You all remember me as a real tiger when we attended the Animal Farm 63 together back in the day.   I was usually horsing around, involved in some monkey business, silly as a goose, slinging the bull, acting crazy as a loon or drunk as a skunk.   I've come a long way and even if I haven't achieved a sort of equine nobility, I do possess a sort of bovine serenity and a feline curiosity that hasn't killed me yet.  I have developed a porcine respect for gluttony and a canine sense of loyalty to our Animal Farm flock.

So don't shed crocodile tears for me because  I am now wise as an owl,  sly as a fox, and busy as a beaver or a bee.   However, I am no longer strong as an ox but weak as a kitten and I no long have eyes like a hawk but I'm blind as a bat and I can't soar like an eagle but only slither like a snake in the grass.  I used to be as fleet as a gazelle but now I am slow as a turtle or snail.  My elephant memory is gone and I can't do the wild thing like a rabbit anymore.  So I can hear you  laughing like hyenas and calling this a fish story.  And I don't consider you, my wooly friends to be an albatross around my neck but I'm proud as a cowardly lion to be a part of the flock of sheeple at Animal Farm 63 and I will give you all a big bear hug when we meet again.

We should have a whale of a time at the sheeple reunion unless a certain gorilla former football player tyoe show up and acts like bulls in a china shop, a  chickens with it's head cut off, a mad dog or a runaway circus elephant.  We may have to have a bear trap set for him just in case.  Then everyone can pat his head so he will calm down.

Jphn,

If you need some help writing your new comic book, either Jim McEnteer or I could consult.  We used to write our own cpmics back in 6th grade and were pretty good.  At least we used to laugh out loud at our own stuff.  As a matter of fact I have been reading my own posts and laughing my ass off.  Some of yours are pretty funny too.

Randy---Can you give us some info on the Mill Hollow car show the 8th from your past experience.  And, what's the best time of day to be there???  Also, do you know and can you describe where you will be located so we can find you easily???  Tks!!!  E

I strongly recommend that you go to the Mill Hollow site and print a map as the place is hard to find.  http:  //www.metroparks.cc/maps/vrr_directions.htm

The cars will start showing up at 7:00 am. I would try and be there by Noon. The show is from 11:00 to 3:00 and 4000 cars take a while to look at. I will try and be there at 11:00. I will have my tent and a couple of extra chairs.

I try and park by the pavilion but a lot depends on how late I get there. You can reach me by Phone at 216-333-3250 and I can tell you where I am parked.

Hey Everybody,

Just an early heads up. I will be in town from Sept.7th thru Sept. 21st. We are planning a get together at the "Winking Lizard" on Detroit Rd. on Saturday nite, Sept. 11th at 6-6:30. This would be a great nite to celebrate family and friends as so many were lost that day at the W.T.C. Also, possibly a picnic in the Metro Parks somewhere or at Rocky River Park. Lanny Moldovan an I hope to get to the Islands for a day trip as well. Anybody who want's in on that is welcome as well.

Gilbs is suppossed to put the "Lizard" thing up on the class wedsite soon. I really enjoy all of you when I come back. It's always fun to get a little crazy!   Later.....

To the Forum - Ellen has changed the starting time for our Herb's patio mini-reunion to 5:30 pm, to allow for holding some patio tables (weather permitting) and increasing the number of visitors either before, during or after dinner.  So save the date -August 5- and the time - 5:30 pm - and we local folk will have a chance to visit.

In Ellen's honor, and in view of the season, here is a group of handsome men serenading her:

Advice from an Old Man to a Young Whipper Snapper

"Always keep your head screwed on straight, don't cross thread it or you'll get wrinkles in your neck.  Remember to pull your head out of the sand and hold your head high but not in the clouds.  Don't be head strong, pig headed, bull headed or hard headed but on the other hand don't be soft headed either.  Don't let young women turn your head and don't lose your head over them.  Don't fall head over heels in love even if they are giving you some.......ah yes.   When headed out the door, know where you're headed,  Head down the right path and head in the right direction.  Head up the high road, keep a clear head, an even head but don't head off a cliff.  Look overhead after you pull your head out of your ass.  Don't leap head first  or head long into the head waters or you might get a bump on the head.  Keep your head down when walking into a headwind.  Try not to be so big headed that you make the headlines."

"Is that all?", said the young man.

"No", said the old man.  "Don't stick your neck out or you could get your head chopped off.  Keep your ear to the ground, your eyes on the ball, your shoulder to the wheel and your chin up......blah....blah......blah........"

The kid in a daze turned and stumbled right into an open man hole.

The old man said, "I told you to keep a cool head and watch where you're headed.  How can I help?"

"Put the cover on the man hole please.", said the young whipper snapper.

Lin and Barbie (the twins) will be at Herb's on Saturday, Aug 7 about noon for lunch.  They tell me they LOVE Herb's burgers.  They both work so can only make it up on a weekend.  I will be meeting them and we would love anyone else who can make it to join us!  Please do join us because the more the merrier!!!  Looks like the social calendar will be full that week---for a change!

Hi Guys:  Well, Barb was able to change her doctor appt. to the following Sat. So we will be at Herb's for lunch and hope many of you can come too.  Life is crazy because we both work, so weekends are the only time we can get together up there.  Too tired to drive to Cleve. after we work!  We're old, remember???

So, we will be there and glad we can at least see some of you.  Linda/Barb

John,

I support and exhort your report of our cohort.  I am mortified that such torturous behavior existed and we should fortify ourselves against it in the future even if we have to take it to a tort court.
