Oh, my, I did say the Duprees didn't I?  Must be all the travel preparations and wedding anticipations (not mine---my granddaughter) that have me forgetting.  I get to hem one of the bridesmaid's dresses the day before the wedding and it's satin under skirts and tulle over skirts---complicated surprise

Ok...here's one more.  But, Bruce, please give it 4 or 5 days to allow others to take a stab at it before you answer. You are just too good at this!

What song did Sam Cooke make famous in 1957?

10/10/17 04:25 PM #3040

Roberta Young (Berwanger)

why would he hold his nose?

10/10/17 04:33 PM #3041

Barbara Peate (Sabo)

Bobbi......looked it up and never would have known!  But, I won't tell!

10/10/17 07:55 PM #3042

Ellen Aspinwall (Templar)

I'm totally tickled pink, Bruce.

Frankie was asked to hold his nose to make the sound to be more nasal. He did it also when he recorded "Gingerbread." But when he recorded "Venus" he didn't and that stopped that absurdity.

10/11/17 04:21 AM #3043

Ellen Aspinwall (Templar)

Bruce and Nancy are both banned from answering this one.  The rest of you:  Please give it a stab!

Who recorded "Puppy Love" and what year? And there will also be a 'why' if you get it right!

10/11/17 12:14 PM #3044

Barbara Peate (Sabo)

Paul Anka but don't know year.  Donny Osmond also had a hit with same song but don't know year.  All I remember are the words!  LOL

10/11/17 12:34 PM #3045

Nancy Westerfield (Depew)

I have this tatooed on my leg, I lovethis song, it's a purple poodle with puppy love under it

10/11/17 11:25 PM #3046

Roberta Young (Berwanger)

i looked it up, too.i am more impressed that he is married to his only wife for 55 years the little heart throb that sang VENUS.

10/12/17 08:52 AM #3047

Ellen Aspinwall (Templar)

Paul Anka is correct. Written and recorded in 1960.  Now, do you know why he wrote and recorded it?

10/12/17 09:26 AM #3048

Nancy Westerfield (Depew)

Bobbi, my dad on apouring rainy sat took me all over looking for Venus, ended up in Lakewood at a record shop, the good old days, I miss them

10/12/17 08:17 PM #3049

Roberta Young (Berwanger)

Are any of you fans of Gene Pitney.... also Paul Anka has a terrible reputation for the way he treats his band members

If anyone is interested I have Buddy Rich stories

But enough about my knowledge- you all are brilliant

Paul

10/12/17 11:59 PM #3051

Ellen Aspinwall (Templar)

Paul:  I remember when Buddy Rich performed in the school gym.  I was fascinated by all the solo drum work.  It was great!  Please, do share his story with us.

The question remains:  Does anyone know why Paul Anka wrote "Puppy Love" and recorded it????
