OK...here's the deal....planning stages are underway for the third "GATHERING OF GERIATRIC SILLINESS" Here are two dates..Sat.night Sept.24th, or ,Sat. night, Oct. 1st. Hopefully one of those dates will work for most everybody. I will be in Rocky River from Sept. 20th, thru Oct 4th.

We will not use the WINKING LIZARD again just because it wasn't very user friendly. My Ohio Business Mgr, Nancy Westerfield, has a suggestion for a more accomodating place. Also, another friend has a suggestion as well. Anyone who want's to weigh in on the dates..feel free to do so. My Ohio trip is ALWAYS the highlight of the year for me. ALWAYS a blast!

HAPPY FOURTH EVERYONE!  and thanks for the fireworks background on this page....might be the only ones I see!  So hot and dry here that all local ones are banned.  Do they still have fireworks in Bay out over the lake?

Ellen...your place on the lake looks charming...however did you find it?  What a great place for gatherings.  Looks like y'all had a great time.

I've about had it with the TX. heat but otherwise still doing great!

John...sure hope you are doing and feeling better too.

Enjoy the day and be grateful for our freedom.  Holly

Bruce: I think Sept. 24 or Oct. 1 is perfect for Barb/me.  Saturday nite means we can stay over & not have to go home & drive all that way at nite.  I am so amazed at all who attend these minis. I love just being free to laugh & have a great time. Wish more would come.

Nancy: Apparently now you are the Social Director!  You certainly make a good one for sure. I don't even know restaurants or bars around R.R. anymore because I've been gone too long.  Just Herb's!  Hopefully Zbin's will come & others too.  How about Soros? She didn't come to the one in Huron.

Crazy day at work w/the old folks today so gotta go. (Or should I say older folks as some days I feel I could move in here at Feridean!)  Actually, when there is a full moon some of them have Sundowner's & act as crazy as can be!!!!

John....."Oh Dudical One" Email is: rcpilot400@gmail.com Panty Raid will be, or not be, in direct relation to the amount of "Liquid Courage" consumed. Someday I will have to tell you how I found out what "Coulots" were. Probably misspelled that one.....I am definately cranked about coming to Ohio....

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes.  I'm not good at getting on the site too often.  Guess it has to do w/being on a computer all day at work!!  John, hope you are getting along & know our prayers are w/you.  We love you too much to let you go anywhere.

Love,

Barb

Hey Barb,

What about me?  I'm getting older and I have a lot of aches and pains also.  I need love too!!

BTW, happy belated birthday to you and Linda.  Isn't it amazing that two sisters would have the same birthday?  What are the odds?

07/16/11 01:25 PM #1032

Barbara Peate (Sabo)

Oh Fred, I guess I forgot about you!!  So sorry.  You snubbed me in high school as did many others, so I had to turn to dating the St. Edwards boys.  Wow--that was a VERY long time ago--almost married one too.  Have a great day & thanks for belated BD greetings.  Go figure 2 could be born on the same day--or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 or 8???

B

Linda Peate (Powrie)

Well, Sis, maybe you should have married the other guy.  Wonder what he's doing now? But then you wouldn't have the very cute kids & grandkids perhaps!!!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes.  It was bittersweet as mom made it thru out birthday last July, but passed away the day after. Think she stuck around because it was our birthday. She was always a stubborn one that lady!  And she was a lady--she proudly said "I have never pumped my own gas. My mother didn't bring me up to do that."  I laughed & said, "neither did mine, but it happened!  I pump my own gas, except in N.J. where they won't allow you to pump your own gas!

Talked to Marcia Pullin & she is coming in Sept. to the mini reunion. She enjoyed our last one so much. I am going to ask Sally Willey, but somehow she is once again out of my computer! I swear some little person is in my computer snatching Rocky River alumni names & addresses!!!!  L

Loved the "survival" post.  Think we should all add our additional memories to it.  Like "key" roller skates that fell off our saddle shoes as we were careening down a hill!

Now I had an additional comment but already forgot it! So will have to go back to the forum and see if I can remember!  Must be the 21 straight days of 100+ heat.

I won't tell that old story about how I walked five miles to school in three feet of snow or that I had to wake up at four o'clock in the morning to do my chores every morning.  Life was good for a middle class white boy growing up in Rocky River.  However since I never received an allowance I did learn at a fairly young age how to do odd jobs for cash.  I cut grass, raked leaves, shoveled snow and painted fences.  Any money I earned was all mine to spend on candy and superman comic books.  That sort of greed was important for survival.  Later the money I earned would be used for gasoline and drive-in movies.  Ahhhh yessss drive-in movies.  Was there ever a place on the planet as close to heaven as the Autorama?

I remember when my own kids asked me about their allowance.  I said, "Allowance for what, get a job and I have some work to do around here."

Down here in Texas illegal aliens do all that work.  It is nice to have a bunch of semi slaves doing all the work in our gated community, but I am concerned that these young whippersnappers are not learning how to work or survive.  Many will probably not get a job until after they get their PhD.   But at leasrt they can get a job in the Federal Government with Barry, Timmy or Benny.  They never had a real job either.

"pancreatic cancer flag" in front of my face . . . makes the gall bladder seem like a root

between Queegqueg and Lieutentant Colonel Frank Slade . . .

(semi-erudite literary reference / semi-obscure cinema reference ) . . .

will elaborate upon request . . . traded my gall bladder for a really cool scar and a

Bill,

I'm glad you didn't start chasing a white whale or attempt to blow your brains out while wearing your dress greens.  Life is good.  Everyday I wake up on this side of the River Styx makes me feel like doing a Travolta strut.
