I had some good news and bad news from my local Real Estate Appraisal Board the other day.  The good news is that the value of my house went down, but the bad news is that my taxes would remain the same.  I will be arguing that!  My goal is to convince them that my house is actually worthless and I shouldn't have to pay any taxes.  And if my house is worth zero why should I have any insurance on it?  And since my mortgage has long been paid off, VOILA no more housing expenses.  That means more cruises.  Life is good in Obamaland!

Ellen,

You guys are looking good!

By the way,  when did Lake Erie turn blue?  Have those Zebra Mussels been cleaning it up?  I always remember the lake as a shade of brown.  I was in the Caribbean the first time I saw blue water and I was amazed.

Ellen Aspinwall (Templar)

Thanks, Fred!  Yes the lake is usually blue these days unless a storm stirs up the sand and then it can be a bit brown but nothing like when we were kids!  They are still working on the zebra mussels but there's a new, invasive fish "Gobies".  However, the Lake Erie abundant water snakes really like them.  Course now we swim with the protected, thriving snakes......the Caribbean is beautiful!

Kids today have a cleaner Lake Erie to swim in, but that might not be so healthy for them.  I remember as a child swimming through all that gross stuff floating around at Oakwood Beach at the mouth of the Rocky River.  If whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger then my immune system must be off the charts strong.

Nancy,

When you mentioned Guy possibly moving back to Northern Ohio to be close to his grandkids it reminded me that we moved down here to the Houston area for the same reason.  My goal was to make a comeback as a really good grandpa.  I wanted to show them unconditional love and patience.  I wanted to help them learn to ride bikes, swim, kick a soccer ball and build a couch and blanket fort.  I wanted to be involved in their school activities so we moved to a house one block away from their Elementary school.

Ethan is almost a teenager and he is starting to act like one.  I still give him a big hug though and tell him how difficukt the transition to middle school was for me.  We made our own Mother's day cards with crayons and paper.  Warren invented the phrase "Go Love" which we still use.  I have learned a lot from them.  These grandkids are growing up faster than mu own kids but I am glad that I have been along for the ride.

Hey John!  Sorry to hear you are not well.  Get well soon!

Fred, If you are an accomplished grandpa, then you are accomplished!  It is our chance to correct all the mistakes we made as parents!  Mine were quite a few!  lol  Keep up the good work!

Ellen, AWESOME Get together!  Nice work!  It was super seeing everyone!

fred, i can tell yopur a good grandpa, that's what its all about-we also made the tent out of blankets,so much fun. now my oldest is driving me around with her temp.,next year the other one will. ben's only 11,so it will be awhile for him. the other day i dropped of my 2 girls at huntington beach, picked them up 2 hours later, and asked them were there any cute boys there. we've come along way from diapers, and bottles, buit i enjoy the teen years also. they call me every nt. and i still see them at least 3 times aweek. they are not to big for hugs, kisses, or to be told i love them, and they always say it to be. we are so lucky all of us to have these kids-enjoy them why we can, we are so lucky. nancy

How much fun we had on Sat.! Wish I hadn't had to leave & could have stayed longer so I could have had some wine, but unfortunately, I cannot see at nite one little  bit!!  And Fred, the color of the water is slightly brownish but now it's a clean brownish.  It must be your big blue eyes when you look out of them that make the photo look blue, right???? Anyway, we had a boat back when we lived in Medina many many yrs. ago, & the water water was getting cleaner & then the zebra muscles hit & boy, they were stuck to our boat every weekend we went!  But it allowed us to swim & not worry! My mother would never let us go in the water at R.R. beach because we would get polio!  I am so happy that it's so different from when the water caught fire downtown because over the yrs. in other cities & states, people always bring it up when I say I'm from Cleve.!!

I can't wait to get together again, spend the nite in a motel (waiting for the guys to raid for our panties, right???) and not worry about having to get home.  So Sept. it is!

THANK YOU ELLEN FOR HAVING IT AT YOUR COTTAGE. HOPE IT WAS TOO MESSY AFTER WE ALL LEFT.!

Well...it was GREAT fun for me.  Some people I hadn't seen since 1963! And several I have!   And my twins!!!  I always wanted to be one! It's always great to see any and all of you!   Not sure how messy it was.  I told Debbie we'd clean up later as I wanted to enjoy the later arrivals, Kelleys.  Dang if Debbie didn't do all the clean up by herself.   Stellar chic, that one!  I think we'll keep her, Guy!  More pictures will be coming along soon......
