Bruce, are you using a small monitor netbook?  Have you tried the full-screen button (upper right, middle)?  Otherwise - that's weird.  I have been laying low for a month or so with work, but did enjoy catching up with you all.  Happy spring, everyone!

Anyone w/birthdays I have now realized have been overlooked by me because we cannot pick up our emails for some reason in our office computer.  We have done everything, but that's the way it is.  So, sorry to anyone I haven't wished a happy birthday!!!

My email down here is floridafred1@comcast.net.  That's the only thing that allows us to communicate via email is this separate account.  After that, it's back to lpowrie@feridean.com  Anyway, we leave a week from this Tue. & head for home.  Seems like we just got here. On the other hand, I did fly back & spend almost 3 weeks to deal w/my back problem. Which by the way, the injection I got using an MRI type machine to pinpoint exactly where the problem was, then inected, was so successful.  I haven't felt this good in 2 yrs.  Had forgotten what it felt like to get up without back pain.  Glad I did it, but I certainly missed a lot of time in Fla. The weather for 3 wks. was so HOT (86 to 90) & muggy, which I simply can't deal with. My hair curls & looks ridiculous, plus I sweat & I do not like people to see me sweat! (wasn't there a commercial to that effect???!!!) Anyway, now it is 78, low humidity & my kind of weather just as we're about to leave. Oh well, you can't have it all. Because it's been snowing & freezing in Westerville Barb said.

John D.:  You were on line & I responded & guess what?  No answer back.  Somehow we missed one another.  Please email me if you'd like. Don't know why you didn't get my answer back when you sent me an on-line instant contact.  Cause I answered you Mr.!!!

And Larry Gilbert, I know this season is hectic for you until the end of April!!!  I think our taxes are done, which is so unusual.  We usually have to get an extension.  But Fred took care of it when he went back the beginning of Feb. I guess.  Halleluiah!

Hey Nancy, planning to be at the picnic if I can.  Seems a long time away but guess what?  It's right around the corner.  So I can stay at my sister Judy's condo (my mom & dad's that Judy has now).  It sleeps 4 so anybody who needs a place to crash, let me know!!  It's in Medina, but isn't that far away really from R.R.

Hi all - maybe I mentioned this but in my 2 short years at RRHS - I dated Susan Weitz and would park at Rocky River Park - walk west and climb the cliff to sneak into her house after dark.  Years later in the daylight I realized there were stairs.

Heck, I probably would do the same thing again.

By the way, I am getting married on Sunday to Donna Hiatt (3 years dating) a wonderful gal and I am thrilled.  She will go by Donna Jean Berns.  It suddenly dawned on us her maiden name is George and so DONNA GEORGE BURNS just does not work.

Best to all and I hope Bruce's wife is doing well.

Butler University (I taught their for 10 yrs.) just lost bigtime in the National Championship Game -  but, I am proud of these kids.  Another unbelievable run.

Nancy and Paul...I think you've started something.  Maybe others would like to join in so......give us your favorite memory of RR park.  Everyone must have some memory they treasure there!!!!  The fireworks stick out but there must be others.

So here's mine.....I regularly hiked from Wagar Beach to RR Beach and back.  It was a major obstical course and a bit challenging----climbing over very large retaining wall rocks (boulders?) and manoeuvering around the narrow outside edge of the concrete tennis court hanging out over the lake.  Occasionally being yelled at by homeowners.  The challenge was to get there and back without falling in the lake or getting your feet wet!  RR park/beach was respite before traversing the course again.  Returning to Wagar Beach became the fait accompli that caused much smiling!!!

Please share your favorite RR Park/Beach memory.....

NOT sure if I did this correctly:  if anyone stops in ROZI's WINE HOUSE on Detroit in Lakewood you can say hello to the owner my first cousin GARY ROSSEN.  My Dad (RIP) was owner years ago.

paul-congraulations on your marriage,i think its so funny you didn't know those were steps at rrhs-and so many, i remember climbing to the top and looking way out to see if i could see canada and thought i did. alot of good memories there.

john, where was lyle when you were kicking butt playing football at the park, if jimmy was there, i'm surprised lyle wasn't.

all of my family still o to the park. my nephew lives a street away and takes his kids there everyday. we has some girl scouts meeting there in the building, and years ago ,i know your not going to believe this but its true, my dad backed his car down the hill, filled up huge metal buckets of sand, for us kids at home.i use to think his car was going to tumble down the hill, it was so steep. the things you remember

now adays i can't remember 2 seconds ago. very good memories. i still go there alot with my grandkids and have a picnic, then last summer took the girls i worked with ,its such a nice place-we were so lucky in so many ways. nancy

Paul -

Gary is your cousin??  Why, I'm in there almost every day!  Oops I mean every MONTH, yeah THAT'S it.

Gary is a good guy!  Let us know if you visit him!  And Rozi's keep winning awards!  Cool!

Ellen,

Let's keep up the buzz for the Rocky River Park stories!  I need to go there.  Have not been in years.  I do remember skating there frequently, and if you fell through the ice, it was 2 inches deep!  Also as a kid, I used to cover myself with clay from the cliffs and rinse off in the lake.  That's how it got polluted!

Hey John,   Do you or maybe somebody else on our site know what  year the SWC came into existence ?

I know that it was around the maybe early 50's, my older brother graduated in '52 and RRHS was in it then.

Hi Nanc!  I could not get our laptop to do anything down in Fla., so next yr. my husband will fix that situation.  He was urked as well!  Anyway, home now & hopefully can come on June 5.  Isn't RR park the place where we used to ice skate?  I seem to remember doing that on occasion & they had a shed that had a fire inside so you could get warm.  Maybe I'm dreaming!

Anyway, back to the old grind.  And aching back from this AWFUL weather.  Now I know why old people (not us) move to Arizona!  Take care.  Linda

Happy birthday to me,

I'm one hundred and three,

You look like a monkey,

And smell like one too.

I learned that from my grandson and it's my favorite birthday song.  Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes.
