I don't think that there are aliens or alien spacecraft at area 51, and I think our moon landing in 1969 was real not faked, and I don't believe that our government was behind 9/11. I don't care where Obama was born, he IS the president. However although I am not a fan of conspiracy throries I'm beginning to suspect that Obama might be planning to manufacture a crisis to have an excuse to institute martial law and take over the country. Call me a nut job, but sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and remember that you heard about this from me first.

Hi Guys:

Yowie: man that was some reading....I do not know if I am remembered by anyone - as I transferred in from Lakewood HS - first I loved RRHS - and I played drums all over the place in RR including the KYW roadshow - and dances.

My butting in is to say that Mr. Donnelly made me hate history. Am I wrong or did he just read the textbook and have us take notes - in other words an outline form of every paragraph in the american history book?

My impression only.

If in Indianapolis come to the Indy 500 - very cool.

AND ON A PERSONAL NOTE.

GO COLTS.

Welcome back Paul.

You are right about Donnelly ruining history and making it boring and tedius for everyone. I was saved later in college when they concentrated on events and ideas in history that still impact us today. College history was fascinating. However, there are undoutedly many former Donnelly students who think history is boring.

If a house is a bad investment. What do you call paying rent for your entire life?

I spent the day working on the old car. Its been years since I used a english wheel and my body knows it. I got one rear wheel well done. I'm not sure that I'll have it together for you guys this summer. My body won't take it any more. Having fun and enjoying my summer hobby in the winter.

For you out of town people that read this nonsense, were getting snow and lots of it. Everything is white and diminutive beautiful.

Glad to see Paul posting

I have decided that this should be my quarter, Two cents dosen't go very far any more.

John,

You might be surprized that we have paved roads and flush toilets down here in Texas. I am sure that King Bruce is just saving a few bucks with his dial up internet. I got rid of my land line telephonr years ago in favor of three cell phones, I have high speed cable internet and two dishes on my roof for satellite and international television. My keyboard and mouse are wireless so I can use my 50 inch plasma TV as a minitor if I want.

There are 10 former classmates living here in Texas inckuding Bruce Beard. Texas is great but we have enough former Ohioans down here now. The rest of you should stay up there with your snow and cold. Don't let the buckeyes hit you on the head.

Do you have the international dish so you can watch the English stations. I heard there are more Spanish stations than English stations in Texas. I thought everyone used 50" monitors.
I would think with your planned community you would have community showers and toilets. You know 2 holers and shower with a friend.

There is nothing wrong with dial up internet. I know some people with it and it works fine a little slow but it works.

If anyone hasn't checked out the links Larry and Al have put up check them out there pretty cool.

John
I think your getting ripped for you phone service. I pay less than $60 a month for 2 phones. I still have my land line for messages. My cell dosn't work in my basement very well.

Where did Ellen and Bruce go?

I think you should spend the time to tell us how you really feel about cell phones.

Randy,

It sounds like John is starting to crack up from being couped up all winter in that depressing Ohio weather. All that ranting and raving on the internet would normally trigger a call to the men in white coats if he spouted off like that in public. Get your car ready for spring so we can take John on a ride with the windows open and let those breezes clear his mind. Down here in Texas they have never heard the terms "cabin fever" or "spring fever" because the sun is shinning all the time and a light breeze.

I flew into Houston in 1985 and there was 2" of snow on the ground. The snow lasted 3 weeks. It was dreary, cold and nasty. At least if your going to lie try and make it believeable. The sun is out today and the white covering is beautiful. As the Fonz would say SIT ON IT.

On the beach, Randy....hiking the Oregon Coast beach is where I am. 53 degrees and SUNNY today---perfect for a 6 mile (round trip) hike on the beach!!! Crashing breakers, seagulls, sandpipers, pelicans and a snoozing coast seal......not even one flake of snow but lots of sand and sea.....

If our economy is so bad why do we still have people trying to get in to this country? If our dollar is going bad why is most of our money going overseas?

Glad you back Ellen, Ocean looks good but no swimmers or beach bums.

02/08/10 03:07 PM #277

Fred Thomas

Randy,

You are correct. No matter how bad our economy gets, it will always be better than everywhere else in the world and people will be flocking to come here. Our economy sits on top of every other economy in the world.

Unfortunetly, with government spending out of control, huge deficits predicted for the next decade and a national debt approaching GDP we are already beyond the "event horizon" of sustainability and headed toward the black hole of bankruptcy. There is no returning to economic solvency.

So what should we do as individuals? I'll address that question in a future rant.

John,

Actually I get paid off in gold bars.

I started collecting my social security at age 62 so I could collect some of mine before they run out and get down to that IOU at the bottom of the "lock box" signed by Barney Frank. Even though my IRAs and 401Ks have gone down as much as anyones have, at least there is still money in the accounts. There is nothing in the so-called social security "lock box". If a private company had done what the politicians had done they would all be behind bars. Privatization of social security would be much better because the politicians can't be trusted with their vote buying schemes.

So thats why you guys go postal. Its the thought of the gold bars.

02/09/10 01:12 PM #280

Fred Thomas

Randy,

I have a bumper sticker on my car that reads: "Postal Worker on Board, Beware." I wear my postal uniform when I want to intimidate people and then I look at them with crossed eyes and scream, "You want to see crazy!!" That normally works and people either clear out of my way or give me whatever I want. In the rare cases that it doesn't work, I just go real postal on them. Postal workers always get respect.

02/09/10 03:01 PM #281

Randall Smith

You get respect in Texas!! I thought you just get stupid in Texas. Not that theres anything wrong with that.

Master and Slave

Troubleshooting complex electronic/electrical/mechanical devices was a piece of cake compared to dealing with the folks I used to work with. We had an optical character reading machine that was controlled by a master/slave computer configuation. While it was booting up the monitor would display things like, "master booted, waiting on slave" and "slave booting". I felt some hot breath on my neck one day and as I turned around I noticed this lady supervisor peering over my shoulder. She said, "I don't like that." I said, "what don't you like?" She said, "I don't like that master and slave stuff." I said, "those are just the names they gave to the two computers. I can't change it." She said, "that's not right, master and slave." After going round and round for awhile, I shut the monitor off and she left. "I guess I am the master after all." I thought.

CELL PHONES, ONE MORE PEEVE:

How about the guy walking around with the bluetooth earpiece "talking to himself"? They inevitably say something right next to you so you think they are talking to you! The most upsetting one was the guy who stood next to me and said "I love you baby."

If I did relate to you about having gold bars I didn't mean too. You really need to tell us how you really feel about cell phones. Don't hold back!

Fred is the only one I know getting gold bars. I think he has to pay the landscapers in Spanish gold. I wonder who is watching the officers of the gated community. I'm sure with Fred there no illegals are working there. Maybe a few relatives is all.

I wonder what Fred is the Master of? Fred usually wears a red tee shirt with a big S on it. I wonder what the S stands for. Could it be Superman? Slave? or maybe SATIN!
You decide because Fred won't tell us. Or maybe he will!

I think your still holding back!

My biggest beef is the women on there way to work going 65 mph talking on there cell phone eating there toast and putting on there makeup. Number two is eating at a nice resturant and the people next to you are getting calls every other bite. There are a lot people that can't multitask and it makes my life scary. The big rig drivers get upset if you pull in front of them without the proper distance but its OK for them to be talking on there cell phone. The last few years I worked my crews spent more time on the phone than working. Some time when I have a couple of days I'll tell you how I really feel about cell phones.

02/11/10 10:00 AM #286

Certainly many people need to learn cell phone etiquette and safety. I had to learn myself to turn my phone off in church, movie theaters and restruants. Safety issues such as texting while driving are obviously really stupid. Kids that do it and get themselves killed should have a Darwin Award placed on their tombstone. But they might take some intelligent people with them.

I recently learned to send and receive a text messages myself at my adsvanced age. I can see some uses for texting, but I normally would rather just call. It's more personal and communicative. I use my cell phone constantly and have it with me 24/7. Last month I used 3000 minutes.

Cell phones don't cause tumors even though my hat size has doubled. My brain is just growing. I love my cell phone and if it was a woman, I would marry her.

You need to do a little math. You spend a lot of time on your phone for someone that's retired. You need a friend or a hobby. Three thousand minutes is fifty hours a month almost 2 hours a day. My jaws are tired just thinking about it. You need to quit calling the 900 numbers.

02/11/10 07:45 PM #288

Fred Thomas

Randy,

At least you have a real phone. John and Bruce are still using tin cans and strings. They have a hot line between their houses but the neighbors are tired of all that string draped over their trees, so John and Bruce might have to upgrade communications to smoke signal coming off their bar-be-que grill.

Its not snowing in Texas, Ya Right!

02/12/10 03:00 PM #290

Fred Thomas

Randy,

Actually it is setting a record for snowfall up North in Dallas. They have over a foot of the white stuff. It's not snowing at all down here in Houston though.

Texas is big! If you put a dozen little Ohios inside Texas they would still be rattling around and all the buckeyes would fall out. From the left side to the right side it is 1000 miles wide and from the bottom to the top of Texas is farther than from the top of Texas to Canada.
