Good Morning Everybody,

Not too much activity on this site. What's up with that?  Some of you know I belong to the Commemorative Air Force. We are a almost a nationwide organazition who is dedicated to the restoration of WW2 aircraft and honoring the men and women who flew them during that war. We are a flying museum . From June 2nd through usually the second week of October...we fly some of our aircraft all over the us and Canada. Our touring aircraft are our B-17G "Sentimental Journey", B-25 "Maid in the shade". We also have a C-47 that we are starting to phase in.

I have finished the schooling needed to become a Loadmaster on these aircraft. Last year on tour I was in Canada and Washington with our B-17. This year I will be on tour with the B-17 again from June 16th through June 30th. Our tour stops are as follows; Chikasha, Ok June 16th through June 20th,Springfield, Mo. Springfield/Branson airport, June 21st through June 26th, DeKalb, Ill june 27th through June 30th. At that point I will cycle out and fly commercial back to Phoenix. If any of you live within reasonable driving distance...please stop by and I will give you a personal tour of our B-17. By the way...we generate revenue to keep these birds in the air by taking people for rides in our aircraft. AN EXPERIANCE YOU WILL NEVER FORGET. I would love to see some of you show up. Heck! Take a little road trip...and when I am off duty..we could go to dinner and a couple of "Pops" Get a carload and visit me at DeKalb !

Wow!  I'm behind here with the background.  I think the spring snow is gone now.  I took a slight detour this year and am planted in the desert for a bit.  The current background is from a few years ago at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix. The taller plants you see in the foreground are actually glass art by Dale Chihuly.  He was commissioned to do several (many) displays in the gardens that year. Seemed odd to suddenly come across a boat with a bunch of colorful glass fishing floats but it was all beautiful.

Looks like Bruce is going to have some unique and fun adventures flying soon.  And be getting out of the desert heat.  It's been record high temps (106 to 119) for a week or more and no let up in sight.  I know I'm going to like getting outta here soon.

So...stop in here at the message forum and let us know what you are doing this summer.  Can anyone top Bruce's upcoming flying adventures?  I know no one can top mine but, then, you don't want to. Let us know what you are doing!!!!!

Plan to see you all at Mike's in July!

(Love the photo, Bruce!)

Linda Peate (Powrie)

I see why you're on tour with those people, Brucie....like the hot chicky kneeling down?  She is a cutie!  What a great thing fo you to do.  No grass grows under your feet for sure!  Fred was in the Air Force, was going to go to the A.F. Academy but he opted out as he couldn't face that commitment so went to college instead when he got out!!  He always wanted to fly.  Our neighbor flew bombers during Viet Nam war and is a 4-star general.  Boy are they spoiled.  He didn't know anything about taking care of a house, nor did Kathy know anything about doing anything for herself!! People did it all for them.  But they moved 25 TIMES.  They just moved to Connecticut as he retired from Net Jets & took another job there for 2 yrs. for the money.  Doubt he needs it. A fun life but also difficult as well.  Have a greaat summer Brucie.

Oh, Barb and I will be at the mini on July 7, but not Mike's.  It's a long way to drive.  Hope many people might show up on the 7th though.

Did anyone notice John has lost a ton of weight???  Great job and you look so much healthier!!  Difficult I know, but worth it!  So are we having the July 7 mini at Bonefish again?  It would be coming up pretty soon.  Barb & I have committed to go & have a hotel for the night.  Let us know.  Didn't see it posted.

Mike "Bud" Manco

It's still on. Bonefish is near the corner of Detroit and Crocker. Lots of parking around it as well as a parking garage behind it, but you should have no problem finding free parking

Nancy:  Mike told me it's at Crocker Park if you know where that is.  I know Barb knows as she lived there all her life in that area until she went to Fla.  So, it may just be a few of us, but then that's OK too.  See you there!

For the Class of '63 Happy Hour, the next one is July 7th at the Bonefish Grill, Westlake.  For those who may not be sure where that is, here is a link to a map to it.  When you are inside Crocker Park, it is near the corner of Detroit and Crocker Road, So that would be the Northeast corner (from and Crocker Road enterance, you want to go all the way to the left!).  Here is a map link.  Click on "Directions" to get a route from wherever you are.

Linda Peate (Powrie)

Alan my sweet, I know we are old especially when we will be inside a place called "Croker" Park.  We are all heading toward croking, but not right now!!  Here we are again...another 2 jerks blew themselves up at Istanbul Airport.  Our presiden needs to do SOMETHING before it's fully here in this country.  And don't just blame the Repubs, either!  That's all I will say.

06/29/16 10:44 AM #2729

Then let's get together as often as possible, before we all DO "croke"!
