Things will be pretty quiet on the Forum without Fred here....

FRED- I actually READ the Global Warming Hoax Update. That is signed by thousands of people with degress in Science of various kinds. That was REALLY interesting. I recommend this to anyone who believes "the debate is over". Now that we know they fiddled with the data, we need to sort through it (regression analysis, etc) from scratch to see if any conclusions can be drawn, before we jump into some Cap-N-Trade boondoggle! Thanks Fred!

PS - Don't be blowing the lid off the Robin Hood Club! Do you remember how it ended? LOL
Was the Rubin Hood Club the Jewish Affiliate? :-) They used to meet at Corky and Lenny's!

A week of lobster tails, giant shrimp, prime rib, filet mignon, escargot, creme brulee and tiramisu makes one crave some spaghetti and homemade chilli. Life on a cruise is tough. But I have considered that if I sold my house, cars, and all my possessions That I could live cheaper on a perpetuak cruise than I do now. Just an idea worth thinking about.

Kewl, Fred!! Where are the photos??!!!

It's been done, Fred. Supposedly it's cheaper than assisted living, with better food and scenery. And there is some cruise ship somewhere that is a condominium.... I could live with that.

Yer right on both counts, Larry. I know someone who is contemplating the ship-condo lifestyle for their retirement. Follow the sun....

My favorite high school class was Latin. I had four years with Miss Beck. However the most important class I took was typing and it may have saved my ass.

After the TET offensive of 1968 the Army needed a few hundred thousand more troops for the last buuildup of the war. I was drafted in June and while at basic training at Ft. Knox they offered me a choice of helicopter pilot or 2nd Lt. in the Infantry. Although chopper pilot seemed pretty cool and they promised it would only take 90 days to learn to fly, I none the less declined. I vaguely remember an old saying, "Never volunteer for anything."

They didn't seem to know what to do with me after bootcamp as they sent the others to Infantry, Artillery and Armor. They discoved that I knew how to type with all ten fingers and that determined my career path from clerk to teletype operator to crypto supervisor. The Army ran on paper at that time and now probably runs on soft copy.

It's amazing that computer keyboards still use the old QWERTY format and most people use only two fingers. Teach your grandkids how to type as it may save their ass someday as it did mine.

If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Some time in the 50's or 60's there was a car club known as the Hot Heads. This is the link to the logo picture. http://www.cruisintimes.org/cruisin/
If anyone knows anything it would be great.
Thanks

OK, you old timers... We are going to send out an email and encourage more participation on this forum to discuss a subject that should be near and dear to all of us. What in the hell should we select when the time comes to sign up for Medicare Parts A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, and so on to Part ZC (for Zero Comprehension) Any experts in our little group?

Yup...I studied this crap until I needed some "Wine Therapy" to decompress. Those of you who don't know,I will be sixty-six this March. That's right..a year older than y'all because of my inability to conform in my sixth grade class with T Alan Huffman at Wooster School. He asked me to spend another year with him to see if I could find the "Error of my ways" Didn't work..cuz i'm still a little off center. However, I did get to go to Camp Cheerful twice because of my little set-back...Ok...Go with Medicare Plan "F". It would seem you get more bang for your buck. I chose the Blue Cross/ Blue Shield plan at $120.00 per month. (which has now increased to $126.00 per month for 2010) So far I have had no co-pay on Dr.visits. As for Medicare plan "D",I chose United Health Care RX Value Plan. That is $13.00 per month. Sooo..the grand total monthly expense for me is as follows:1)$96.40 for Medicare,2)$126.00 Supplemental Insurance, and $13.50 for RX part "D"
Even though I have had issues with "General Math" in the past..I beleive the monthly total is $235.90. If you are on Social Security, you can elect to have your Medicare and your RX Plan "D" taken right out of your check. This is what I would do. SERIOUSLY...make sure you get together with you insuranse provider to discuss all your options and what is best for you personally. Make sure you get your supplemental ins. in the time window allowed,or you will pay MORE down the road for not doing it. The only pre-existing condition that may cause a problem is if you have been on prior kidney dialasis.(they can't shoot you down for this, just a higher rate) Signing up for all this crap is not as hard(bad) as everyone thinks it is.In case you all have forgotten..I was not on the "Deans List" and I still figured it out. Hope some of my off-the-wall info has helped.....

Bruce is correct in his explanation.
One thing that is very important is to check with you insurance company before doing anything. If you drop your insurance you might have trouble getting it back.
Most of us have our insurance taken out before we get our check. No chance of them droping your coverage.
Medicare will not pick up any one else until they reach 65 or are out on disibility. So if your spouse is not there yet check with your insurance company. They might be able to lower you rates until the spouse is 65.
I have had medicare for 2 years (disibility) and am very happy with it as of now.(things are going to change) Because Chris is younger I have kept my secondary insurance.
Any veterans should check with the Veterans Administration also there are benefits there.
Make some calls.
I hope this helps

I should note that this subject matter was not my brainchild, but that of our co-Webmaster, Alan Greenleaf. Looks like a good idea, Al... I bet if we sent out an invitation via email we would get a little more participation on this Forum.

You guys have some nice health plans. Heres mine:

Quit smoking, drinking, and taking drugs. Diet, exercise and reduce stress. And I plan to start after our 50th reunion.

Good plan, Fred. By that time there won't be any government health plan anyway.

Nice looking family! Those grandkids are adorable, Fred. Am a'waiting the possibility of the "Christmas Blizzard of '09" photos but they don't have much enthusiasm for getting out in it right now. After 32 hours with no heat in wind-chill minus 35 they are all staying close to the furnace in East Nebraska. And the kitchen. Christmas day dinner was trail mix and carrots. Check out my profile for Christmas Day photos (they arrived today).

Great photos, Ellen. Those grandkids are cute. Did the heat come back on yet? We used to have a wood/coal burning stove and a kerosene heater for back-up when we lived in Ohio, but I don't miss snow and cold down here in sunny Texas.

They got heat yesterday about 10 am and mama cooked up a storm---the Christmas dinner (ham) and more---in case it happens again. They are still drifted in but heat and food makes it ok....weather is looking better, and warmer.

Other than "safety patrol" and Miss Sivon's cleavage my favorite event at Kensington Elementary School was "bank day". That was some addition and subtraction in action with real ink pens. We had to run an audit too and make everything balance at the end.

Now kids get out of high school and can't read and write or add and subtract. Were we really that smart or are these kids really that stupid?

Great points John. The good news is that I see a return to phonics (we called it "sounding it out"). My grandsons all learned to read in kindergarten and have good skills at attacking new words with phonics.

The bad news is that the schools have not returned to "flash cards" for building kids arithmatic skills. I try to play math and spelling games with the grandkids when we are driving but I try to keep it fun and generally I am known to them as the "tickle monster".
