Yes!  Mike!  You got them correct!  The "day the music died" was specific to Buddy Holly but you got all 3 of them that sadly died in the plane crash.  Kudos to Bud, Mike and Bobbie!

Wow!  Congratulations, Clark! You got that right out of the shoot! It is Eliot Ness!  And thanks for a bit of Ness history. Just to expand on the fact that Mr. Ness resided at the Clifton Park Lagoons...he actually occupied my Great Grandfathers (Alexander Winton) boathouse at 830 Beach Rd. I think the year was 1935 and he stayed there until he left his Director of Safety position with the City of Cleveland. Although I do not think Great Grandads yacht " LaBelle" resided there at the time, Mr. Ness referred to the house as his "retreat".

Wow!  Tom!  What interesting history in your family. It makes you almost famous. The lady at the Lolly the Trolley office was fascinated when I told her about this. I hope you'll join us in September for the tour and maybe elaborate on this family history.  Thanks for sharing!!!

Clark:  There are somewhere between 15 and 20 signed up for Friday night. I am aware of about that many more that are interested but haven't yet committed. We expect twice that many as interest is high. 

We are finding that it is early for commitment and that's ok. There's time. Some are coming from out of town and looking forward to seeing as many of you as can make it!

Yes, The Eliot Ness tour is the only thing scheduled for Saturday, plus dinner at Shooters immediately following. I'm looking forward to that "on the water" atmosphere!

We've encouraged people to get a golf game going Saturday morning but so far, no one has done that and I don't play golf  Anyone who wants to do that is welcome to set it up.  We'll be happy to send out an email blast or two for you to get you in touch with those interested!

Is there interest in a late breakfast on Sunday---like 1:00 or 2:00 after the church crowd has thinned out?  Bob Evans or a place of your choice? Let us know!!!!

Dear Classmates,

Yesterday I was in contact with Nancy Westerfield Depew.  She told me that her brother, Lyle (whom many of us know), is in the hospital with septic pneumonia.  In ICU and apparently he is not doing well.  If any of you don’t know, he has Stage IV lung cancer and has been going through chemo, but recently they have been unable to administer it due to health issues.  Sadly, the other part of this is that Nancy told me she found out last week she has cancer of the pancreas.  It’s about the size of a penny, so it appears it’s been caught early.  She will undergo chemo, then surgery, and then more chemo.  At this time, she is asking that no one call, text, or message her or post anything on Facebook. She’s asked for prayers for her and Lyle, and she would love to get cards from anyone.  Always nice to know people are thinking of you.

I remember Mr. Chadwick primarily as a wrestling coach.  He was a GOOD guy, and helped us do our best.  He was demanding without being "mean".  I would have followed him into battle.

Below is interesting information/history from Ron Hanson about the milk wagon.  Note his comment about Eliot Ness. Thanks, Ron, for sharing with us!  Have a Happy and Safe Memorial Day, everyone!

I was intrigued with your posted photo of the horse-drawn dairy wagon. I recall having milk delivered by a milkman at our house on Beachcliff, but by milkmen driving motorized vehicles. It turns out that Producers Milk Company was a northern Ohio dairy cooperative. It used some horse-drawn milk wagons from 1915 - 1952, according to the internet, clearly including the Ness era. You may want to look at the site of the Historical Society of Old Brooklyn that has many photos of Producer’s fleet of horse-drawn delivery wagons, including your photo. (Old Brooklyn is a Cleveland neighborhood near the zoo.)

Additional information from Ron:  This photo is labeled 1938 on the Old Brooklyn site, a time when Ness was Cleveland's Safety Director.
