Lesley was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer last July and, through the month of December, she felt quite optimistic that she was winning the battle. She remained optimistic and loved her husband, her family, her friends, and all of her animals passionately. My heart is breaking for the best friend I had in high school. If anyone of you have thoughts you would like to share with Jim, I know he would welcome them. A memorial service will be held at their home in Texas this Saturday, and one will take place later in California, where Lesley lived for so many years. '=

I am so sorry to hear about Lesley.  Not only was she my nieghbor, she was a dear friend throughout junior and senior highschool.   I always remember her smile - which seems to have stayed with her over the years.  I so wish we could have meet up in San Antonio.  My prayers and love are with her family.

We did not know each other well; one might say we were friendly acquaintances.  A gentle friendship marked by the kindness and gentleness of Lesley's being and manifest in her smile.  Rest in peace, dearest Lesley.

Am posting this here for you all to read.  This is from a close friend of Leslie's, Fred Schuller:  "My deceased wife, Gail, was a fellow windsurfer here in Santa Cruz.  She was a Physician's Assistant that encouraged Lesley to get her N.P. degree.  Gail also had colon cancer.  Those girls would walk up to the biggest waves and sail out to the horizon.  What broad smiles they'd wear.  I miss them so."
